Revenge has definitely had its ups and downs these past few seasons but this premiere was probably one of its bests! I often questioned how the writers could make the plot line extend for more than a few seasons because eventually there won't be anyone left for her to get revenge on. Sure enough that happened in the last season and I was left wondering where the show was going to go? However, the show took a very unexpected turn and I loved it! **SPOILERS AHEAD**
At the end of last season (season 3) Emily committed Victoria to an institution because she had apparently "gone crazy" and believed that Emily was actually Amanda Clark. Conrad Grayson escapes prison with the help of a security guard. We also find out that apparently David Clark never died and he appears when Conrad is escaping and ends up stabbing him in the middle of the street. Jack Porter is arrested for the kidnapping of Charlotte Grayson even though we know he was against the idea the entire time.
This season starts about 6 months after the last one ended. Victoria is planning her escape from the mental institution and Emily is the new "queen" of the Hamptons. Emily even moved in to Grayson Manor. With no revenge plans Emily is living the Hamton High Life and is on the road to becoming the new Victoria. Emily doesn't really know what to do with all her spare time so she tries to enact revenge for people who were never actually seeking revenge in the first place. As soon as Victoria does escape, she ends up being drugged by David Clark! I guess he still has some plans of revenge.
Moving onto the story line behind Daniel Grayson. He was blackmailed out of the magazine and is now just living in misery and self loathing. He is almost broke (selling off old fancy cars for quick cash) and can't tell his sister about it. Speaking of his sister, good ol' Charlotte Grayson has officially lost it. She is torturing Jack with the fact that he "kidnapped her" (I mean does she really think Jack kidnapped her?) and is now doing some serious drugs while dating the man who blackmailed your brother. Oh and the blackmail was the fact that a girl OD'ed while in bed with Daniel #notgood.
Jack Porter is now a cop. I kind of saw this coming awhile a go when he went all "I want to save everyone" on us. I don't quite see the transition from suspected kidnapper to cop but its TV and a lot can happen in 6 months right?! I feel like Jack being on the inside is really going to come in handy. Also, Brian Hallisay plays the role of Jack's supervisor so that just adds for some extra eye candy (like the show doesn't already have enough). Also, there is some serious tension between Jack and Charlotte and Margaux.
Rumor has it that this is Revenge's final season. I am both relieved and upset by this. One on hand I really think the plot of the show needs to end because its been dragged on a bit too long. On the other hand, I just love these characters so much I don't want to part with them quite yet. However, if it is the series final season then I hope they do some amazing jobs at tying up all the little lose ends. hopefully the plot line of David Clark brings some new life into the boring war that has become of Emily and Victoria. And here's to hoping that every character has a (relatively) happy ending!
What did you think of the season premiere? Do you have any new shows I should watch?
