Happy Holidays!!

AND I'M DONE!!!  So finals are over and its Winter Break!!  Time to relax with friends and family. I haven't been home for four months so I literally cannot wait to be in my bed, see my fam, and more importantly, see my dog! Haha!  I'm just kidding...but actually.  I won't be blogging for a few weeks so I hope everyone enjoys their break and the holiday season!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Study udy udy

So its finals week... and the doom and gloom is overwhelming as the fantasy of winter break taunts us.  Its one week of ultimate hell until 3+ weeks of wonderfulness.  I think finals week is literally the worst time for every college student.  Its when all partying must come to an end and you must put your Netflix account on hold and give your Facebook password to a friend.  I think this Buzzfeed perfectly represents all things finals, oh and this one too simply because Elf is involved.  An no matter how much we try to spend all day studying we end up starting new TV series or just laying in bed all day.  Or even spending the day wasting away hours everyone's new addiction: Buzzfeed (ooopss!)

Well, I'm here to talk you out of your depression and tell you that if you just keep pushing through then you can make it til the end.  In the wise words of Dory, "Just keep swimming."  So here are a few finals study tips that can help you motivate yourself and push you through the end.

1. Focus on one thing at a time.  I know it can become super stressful when you have lists of things to do and it becomes so daunting that you just never know where to start so you decide you won't start studying and instead watch the first season of Gossip Girl.  Instead, pick one thing to do.  Trust me, checking that off the list is like the best satisfaction ever.  Maybe after everything you check off then you can allow yourself to watch an episode of GG.  But not until you have accomplished something.

2.  Get out of your room.  Your room should not be used for studying during finals weeks.  Your room should be the place where you can go back to and relax and not have to worry about anything.  I am not one for libraries because I just find them waaayyy too distracting (hello people watching!!)  But there are tons of other places I'm sure you can find on campus that are perfect for you.  I really like empty classrooms!

3.  Go for a walk.  Literally fresh air is a cure-all.  When you're stressed or overwhelmed just go for a walk.  Maybe take your iPod for some tunes to listen to but other than that I would try to leave your phone back in your room.  You need a break from all things and just some time to yourself to help you think.  While taking a walk/break may seem like the exact opposite thing you need or want to do, its exactly what you should do!

4.  Study groups.  Now this one is difficult.  I think it really depends on the people and your own personality if studying around others works for you.  For me, it depends on the subject.  Sometimes bouncing ideas off people helps me understand like history or language.  But subjects like math, I find easier to do myself.  Take this one with a grain of salt.  If the group starts becoming to distracting or you get off topic too much, just leave.  You may want to hang out with your friends but its only hurting you.

5.  Find your study method.  Whatever it may be everyone has something that works for them.  For me it depends on the subject.  I really like flashcards for terms in Spanish and Psychology for example.  The more times I do them the more I learn.  I also do like making study guides too.  Outlining your topics can help to rephrase things and put them in new light.  Find whatever works for you and stick with it.  If that's creating songs to memorize all the bones in the body a-la Hannah Montana then do it!! Don't let others try and change what you do.

I wish you all much luck and good grades this semester!!

December 14, 2013

First off, I hope everyone is having a good finals week and studying is going well.  I think in the next few days I am going to do a post about how I study and keep organized for finals.  Let me know if that's something you would be interested in seeing!

Anyways, for one of my finals I had to write a paper instead.  It was called a spiritual autobiography.  It wasn't really focused on religion or anything it was just centered around how certain events for people have changed your life and affected you in one way or another.  I was extremely scared to write this assignment because I'm not really used to writing about myself in deep emotional ways.  However, after many weeks of putting it off and hours contemplating what to write, I just sat down at my computer and began to write.

I just started writing about whatever came to my head.  It was crazy the things I was writing and didn't even know I felt and knew existed.  I kept going enjoying the process.  Pretty soon my paper was ten pages and I really didn't accomplish much in explaining my journey but I realized a lot about myself.  I would recommend this process to anyone because it really opens yourself up to you.  It awakens your mind to your deeper emotions and things that you may not even know about yourself.

I would suggest starting no where.  Just grab a piece of paper and pen, or open up a new word doc and just start.  The very first thing that comes to your mind when you think of something that has changed or affected you.  I promise that this will be a hard but worthwhile process.  For my class, we then had to go and share these feelings and thoughts with the class.  Literally one of my biggest fears is showing people sides of me that are too raw or emotion filled.

Telling my story still haunts me but I realized it makes me who I am.  While I didn't share every part of my life the part I did share feels good to get off my chest.  While I still think about what I said and remember every minute of it, its okay.  No one will judge me.  They accept me for me.  And the more I tell myself this then the more I will be able to open up more to the people closer to me.  However, I'm not quite there yet but maybe one day I'll get there.

Any ways, back to the story.  I would also suggest telling one person what you wrote about.  It can be a complete stranger or a close friend who doesn't know the words you wrote.  It may hurt to share or cut you deep but in the end it will be worth it.

I wish you all luck and please let me know if there is anything you want me to write about!!  Good luck studying for all you taking finals!!

PS.  If you want to share your story with me, I'm all ears.  I'm a good listener too who has a lot more experience that you may think!

I just wanted to post a really quick haul post about the things I got during the black Friday sales.  They just arrived yesterday and I am so excited to share them all with you!!  I only shopped at two places for myself (I got a lot of holiday presents for the fam!).  I got bathing suits at Victorias Secret because I am going somewhere warm for Winter Break!!!!!  And then I got some awesome jewelry from Bauble Bar.  Also, Bauble Bar's packaging was so adorable I just cant.  Each piece of jewelry came in a velvet little pouch!  So cute right! haha.  Anyways, here are the things I got and I will post links to everything too if it is still available.  I would love to know what you guys got too!

Purple bottoms in the color Galaxy Grape
I know in the picture the next top and bottom look yellow but I swear they are like a light lime green with light pink border.  I think online it says its like a lilac color border but in real life it looks a lot more pink.

Turkey Day {2013}

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving (if you live in America!).  Mine was a very relaxed one this year.  I did not go home for this holiday so I didn't get to see my parents.  This was actually a lot sadder than I thought it would be because all of my other friends were doing so and it made me really want to be home.  Also, all my friends from home were back home and I was not able to see them which was unfortunate.  But I could not be more thankful for the time I did have.  I was able to spend time with my brother which was super nice!  I missed seeing him and hanging out with him so it was great that we got to spend so much time together.  It felt like we were never apart.

While this long break from school has been nice it was not a break for too long.  I have some CRAZY (and I mean cray-zy!!!) weeks ahead.  With only a week and a half left of the semester and it is jam packed filled with tons of papers and presentations due.  I never quite understood why teachers feel it necessary to pile on the workload right at the end.  And then there is a week for studying before finals and then one week of finals.  So its only 4 weeks-ish until winter break and that cannot come soon enough!!!  All I want is a break where it can actually be a break, no work looming overhead or sneaking up.

For all of you in the same boat as me I wish you all luck in the process and I will see you all out on the other side!! haha  Try to enjoy the rest of your break before the chaos begins.  Good luck, and "May the odds be ever in your favor!!"

PS.  Catching Fire is DA BOMB!!

Typical Fall Outfit!

Literally in the fall time I cannot get enough of over-sized circle scarves, leggings, and riding boots.  I think it is such a basic outfit yet always looks so good and put together!  Below are pictures of this outfit in the most recent way I styled it.  Wearing a Brandy Melville large sweatshirt, a maroon circle scarf from Urban Outfitters, grey leggings from Zara, and tall riding boots from Madewell.  This is my go to look in the fall and soon to be winter.  I think its easy to dress both up and down depending on the type of sweatshirt/sweater you wear!

I sincerely apologize for these crappy photos (thank dorm room lighting for that one!).  I promise I will eventually learn the ways of photography and such.  Please let me know what your favorite fall outfit is!!  Also, if you have any post suggestions I would love to hear them!!

Sweater Weather Tag

sweater weather tag
1. Favorite candle scent?  I'm going to be the cliche and say Leaves by BBW.  I literally am going through withdrawal here in college because I am not allowed to burn candles.

2. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate? Do Chai Lattes count?  Yet another withdrawal that I am currently going through because there is no Starbucks close to my college campus...TEARS!!

3. What's the best fall memory you have?  I'm not really quite sure what this question means but I just love fall weather in general.  I think it is perfect for being outside because its not too hot or cold.  I love carving pumpkins for Halloween!!

4. Which makeup trend do you prefer: dark lips or winged eyeliner? Dark lips all the way!!

5. Best fragrance for fall?  I don't really change up my fragrances each season but right now I am loving Vera Wang's Pink Princess.  It is really sweet and makes me feel all warm and cozy! haha

6. Favorite Thanksgiving food?  Thanksgiving is my all-time favorite holiday.  Like this is not even a question.  Any holiday where you are celebrating all the wonderful things you have in life and you just get to eat delicious food is a-okay with me!!  My two faves are the sweet potatoes and the cranberry sauce!! mmmm

7. What is autumn weather like where you live?  It is so temperamental.  I live in the North and one day its freezing and the next day its hot again.  But normally is 40s or 50s.

8. Most worn sweater?  An oversized camel colored sweater from JCrew.

9. Must-have nail polish this fall?  Essie "For the Twill of It."  I have talked about this polish quite a bit especially in this post: Favorite Fall Nail Polishes {2013}

10. Football games or jumping in leaf piles?  Football games!!  Nothing beats a good tailgate!

11. Skinny jeans or leggings?  Leggings leggings leggings!!!  I have them in so many colors and I think that may be all I wear!

12. Combat boots or Uggs?  Combat boots!  I try to save my Uggs until it snows!

13. Is pumpkin spice worth the hype?  It is really good but I'm not much of a coffee drinker.  Although, when I do need the extra pick-me-up I will opt for coffee flavored with something like the PSL.  However, I much prefer my classic Chai Latte.

14. Favorite fall TV show?  Too many to count!!!  TVD, The Originals, Scandal!!  I could easily go on. haha

15. What song really gets you into the fall spirit?  I've recently been crazy obsessed with Lorde.  Her cool easy way of singing sounds so much like fall to me actually its scary!

Hope you all enjoyed and I would really like to see all of your responses to this post too!!

Boys boys boys

"Boys Suck!" I think I would need twenty hands to count on my fingers that number of times I have heard my friends (and myself) say this recently.  The first two months of college are over and every girl has had their dramas.  We fall in love too quickly and then get our hearts broken just as fast.  Now I am going to be the first one to admit that I never had a relationship in High School.  I kind of always thought it was a waste because you are just going to leave and go to college.  Well now upon coming to college I feel as though I am the most inexperienced person when it comes to guys.  All my friends always tell me their guy problems and I'm like "oh...yeah...hey..."  I am always really good at giving advice about guys but never seem to get any guys myself.  I don't really hook up with guys for fun but that's not to say I wouldn't ever.  Its just the right guy hasn't come along.

But so here's my advice (and please take it with a grain of salt):  have fun!  I know that seems extremely cliche but its true.  Most girls get caught up in the romances of love that they forget to simply enjoy the life they currently have.  When a guy comes it will be unexpected and wonderful but to go out searching for him will just crush you in more ways than one.  Don't feel the need to rush into anything because other people are or the social norms tell you that you have to.  Just do what feels right to you, no matter what.  Don't lose yourself for other people.  Also, don't let a guy hurt you by telling you that you aren't good enough.  You are good enough for another guy out there.  Some day you will find happiness with a guy and that is all that matters!!

Please stay true to yourself and never define yourself by what others expect of you or what they tell you to do.  And yes sometimes guys to suck (I have numerous stories that can attest to that!!) but that's because they are a completely different species that need a lot of tender love and care.  They are very oblivious to their surroundings.  Sometimes a girl needs to be the guy and say exactly what she feels!  Don't be afraid and just take a leap!!

Good luck, xoxo

My Planner

I thought I would do a post about how I organize myself for school!  I am basically addicted to my planner.  I write everything down in it even if it does not seem important.  Its just a way for me to keep everything straight.  I've never really been one to use the calender on my iPhone except for like reminders a day before and an hour before (those have literally saved my life countless times!)

Anyways this is just a quick post of pictures of my planner.  On the month spreads I put things that don't really relate to school but I also put big tests or projects due.  Then on the individual days I put my homework and things I have to do.  I highlight major things so that they draw my attention.  If it is really important I write it in another color for emphasis (everything else is in blue pen because I am addicted! haha)  Once I have completed something I put a check next to it so I feel accomplished!  That's basically it!

I highly recommend using something to keep your life in order.  I cannot tell you how many times I use this and It makes me feel so much more relaxed.  It helps me manage my time better because I can look ahead and see when I have things do etc.  Good luck keeping organized!  Also, I think I am going to do some more posts about taking notes and studying and more school related posts!  Please let me know if there is anything that you are interested in seeing!

PS.  Sorry that these photos are not the best quality ever... they were rather hard to take pictures of and not get my shadow in the way!  Still learning the ways of lighting and photography!

Oh So Charming

Charm bracelets were a really big thing when I was younger.  I feel like everyone had one and it was the thing to have.  I absolutely loved the idea of having them because it was a present that stayed with you forever and had so many memories on it.  But sadly the trend died.  Recently though I have been thinking about just how much I love them and how I kind of want one again!  I almost asked for one for graduation and kind of regret not doing so.  However, I just found out of this brand called Alex and Ani which is basically like one charm per bracelet instead of many charms on one bracelet.  Its my new obsession and I got two for my birthday.  I think I might have to get more because I love them.  Each charm has its own meaning as designated by the company but I feel as though you can attach your own meaning to them as well.
These are the Alex and Ani bracelets.  I have my birthstone (sapphire) and the Endless Knot one!  I absolutely love them and they fit my jewelry style very well, simple and delicate.

A few other types of charm bracelets I really like and might get are the Pandora one.  I like this one because the charms are on the bracelet and they don't dangle as much!  I just love the look of them too...sooo cute.

And finally, a more traditional route to the good ol' charm bracelet.  This one is from Tiffany and Co but you can literally find them in almost any cute jewelry store.  You do not have to go the expensive route at all!

What do you guys think about the idea of a charm bracelet?  Too middle school or preppy chic?

Favorite Fall Nail Polishes {2013}

1.  Revlon Colorstay Spanish Moss:  A perfect olive green (one of my favorite colors!).  This is a very opaque cream which I do really like for the fall.

2.  Revlon Colorstay Blue Slate:  My obsession for blues continues into the fall with this muted almost dusty blue.  It's like a cross between a grey and a blue but brighter.  Apologies for the lame description but colors are something I find hard to describe (and scents!).  Just like Spanish Moss this is a very opaque and cream formula.

3.  Essie For the Twill of It:  Literally my new favorite polish.  I just bought it two days ago and I am already obsessed.  I cannot even describe the wonderousness of the nail polish.  A dual tone purple green shimmer it is gorgeous.  Please Google good swatches of this because it is amazing.  I expect to wear this polish quite a lot this fall and probably even winter too because its just that gorgeous.

My attempt doesn't do this color enough justice.  It looks a different color in different lighting situations.  If you can't already tell, I am in love.  It applied beautifully as well.

4.  OPI From A to Zurich:  This berry nail polish is the perfect transition between the hot pinks of summer and the ox bloods of winter.  Normally I don't like reds on my nails but this one is perfect because it is more berry and less red.  Applies well and is opaque and creamy.

5.  ORLY Rage:  This color is actually perfectly acceptable all year round as are most golds and shimmers but I kind of like rose gold a bit better in the fall.  It's softer than solid gold and ties better into the warm coziness of fall.  Also love using this as an accent nail for all my creams.  This is also super easy and nice to apply.

Life Update {9/10/13}

My dearest and sincerest apologies for the lack of posts lately.  It has now been a week since I have moved into college and I have been extremely stressed and busy and yeah.  There have been things going on like crazy and with the little bit of down time I get I like to lay back and watch some shows or take a nap.  I promise to get right back with my daily routine of posting regularly.  Hope you all are having a wonderful start of school and enjoying the beautiful fall!

With love,

P.S.  If you have any posts suggestions you would like to see please let me know!!

A TV Confession: Pretty Little Liars {4x12}

OMG OMG OMG!!!!!!   I literally love PLL with a burning passion.  This show is so addicting and entertaining to watch.  **SPOILERS AHEAD**  Now I'm not going to say I knew it was Ezra all along because I didn't but a very long time ago when the topic of boy shorts came up for the first time I thought it was Ezra.  I mean it made perfect sense...he went to college in Rosewood (where Alli met boy shorts) and a bunch of other things.  I have always thought Ezra was a little suspicious because EVERY character is a little suspicious but they never actually made Ezra look guilty.  However after the reveal that Toby was on the A team but then he wasn't, it makes me think now that when they reveal Ezra as being on the A team (or even being A) that he actually isn't either.  I don't want his motives are but I don't think he's guilty.  Maybe guilty of helping the girls or something but I don't think he is for sure A.  But who knows, we never actually know anything for sure!!

Onto the sketchiness of Ravenswood.  Does that town freak you out or what??!!  There are no colors anywhere and all the people are total creeps.  I just don't understand how the girls never knew of this scary place that is soo close to them ever before.  And now we have the wonderful new character of Mrs. Grenwald who seems to know almost everything but won't tell anything.  I still cannot decide if she is good or bad but something isn't right with her.

So the finally revealed that Cece Drake is a A, or at least working for A.  We aren't sure if she is the real one, or even the only one but she has for sure been up to no good.  It is hard to tell what Cece Red Coat was doing to the girls and what Ali Red Coat was doing to the girls.  I think that Cece is doing the bad things and Ali is doing the good things and trying to help the girls (aka stopping Emily from being sawed in half...eeeek!)  So I guess this means that Ali is alive then.  After all, we did just find out the Grenwald did pull Ali out of the ground that night she was supposedly killed.

One of my favorite websites that talks all about PLL and the secrets and clues and figuring stuff out is WetPaint.  It is so addicting!  Anyways, on it I found this list of every unanswered questions since the start of the show!  It is kind of crazy how much we still don't know:

  • Who is "A"?
  • Is Ali really dead?
  • If so, who killed Ali?
  • And why did he/she kill her?
  • If not, where is Ali?
  • And why would Ali fake her own death?
  • What happened the night Ali died/disappeared?
  • Who is Ali’s beach hottie?
  • Does Ali have a twin?
  • Who was staying in the DiLaurentis’s crawl space?
  • And why doesn’t Mrs. DiLauretis care?
  • What happened to Toby’s mom?
  • Who is Red Coat?
  • Who actually killed Wilden?
  • Whose side is Mona actually on?
  • Who actually pushed Ian off the bell tower?
  • Why was Jason injured at the start of the Season 3 winter season?
  • Where is Jason?
  • Why was CeCe so apparently frightened of Wilden?
  • Where is CeCe?
  • What is Jenna/Shana/Melissa's relationship to Wilden?
  • Why did they save him after Ashley hit him with her car?
  • What is up with Jenna?
  • Who almost killed Jenna?
  • Why did Red Coat save the Liars from the fire?
  • Who knocked Toby out and gave him the compass?
  • Why did he/she give him Nigel’s compass?
  • What exactly is on Page 5?
  • Where is Noel Kahn?
  • What's the deal with Spencer's dad? The broken hockey stick?
  • Why did Jason have his house all papered up?
  • Who was he hiding there?
  • Who did Jason give the reward money for info on Ali's body to?
  • Why did the "A" team steal Ali's body?
  • Who dug up Ali’s grave?
  • Why did they give Ali’s body back?
  • Who was Nigel calling in NYC?
  • Why was Ali calling Cicero College?
  • Was it definitely CeCe’s phone at the sorority house?
  • What is the deal with Grunwald?
  • What is Ravenswood’s big mystery?
  • Why did Ali pretend to be other people?
  • We know Melissa thinks she's protecting Spencer, but from who?
  • How did Melissa’s involvement in this all start?
  • What's the deal with the "A" who attacked Ali in the first Halloween episode?
  • Who smashed Connor's car?
  • Where is Holden?
  • Why did Aria just stop looking for him after kissing Jake?
  • Where is Lucas?
  • Who was Wren drawing in red coat in Season 4, Episode 10 (“The Mirror Has Three Faces”)?
  • Why is Wren so sketchy? Is he on the “A” team?
  • Why does Hanna have a stalker all of the sudden?
  • What kind of game were Ali and CeCe playing?
  • Where is Tippi the parrot?

Dealing With Stress

Sorry for the larger gap of posts but as the title kind of states I have been extremely stressed lately.  This has been an extremely busy week before leaving for school.  My mom fell and broke her ankle resulting in her having to have surgery.  She was supposed to babysit her grand daughter/ my niece for 2 days but couldn't so I had to.  Those were two of the craziest and most tiring days ever.  I've heard of "the terrible twos" but I think we need a "obnoxious ones" or something of comparable standard.

Apart from my crazy stressful week I wanted to share some of my tips for how to handle stressful situations.  I have always been the type of person to simply go with the flow and never worry all that much.  Because of this, stress doesn't effect me too much until it gets to a point where I just break down because the stress is just TOO much.  I also thought this would be great for students who get stressed quite frequently  (trust me I know, been there, done that!!)  Here's what I do:

1.  STOP.  While it may be extremely difficult and seem like the last thing you want to it will ultimately be the best thing for you.  Your body just needs a little bit of relaxation time.  Whatever that be for you, listening to music, grab a bit to eat, take a it!  I promise you this little bit of down time will feel sooo good!

2.  BREATHE.  Take a moment to step back and breathe.  This is very similar to the relax one above but if you simply cannot take the time to stop just take a few minutes to listen to a calming song and just breathe.  I used to think it was crazy when I would hear people say shit like "Breathe in good, exhale bad," but it actually kind of works.  I think the trick behind it is just that it takes your mind off of whatever was stressing you out.

3. LOOK at your situation like you are a complete stranger.  Step back and analyze the scenario.  See if you get more perspective and it will help you destress.  Also, tell a friend what is happening and vent out your problems...that always helps me!!

4.  ASSESS what is happening and how you can fix it.  Also similar to number 4 more this time instead of just being aware of what is wrong now try to see what caused you to become this stressed and maybe in the future how to avoid these situations (for ex. saying no).

5.  BE more prepared for next time.  Next time when you even start to feel a little stressed out nip it in the butt.  Start these techniques sooner rather than later so that you don't get to such a bad point.

I wish you all the best and try to stay stress free!  What are some of your helpful destressing tips?

My Week in Pictures {8/17/13}

This last week I went on a vacation with my family.  It was our last big family thing before I go off to college in two weeks.  We went to our lake house and here are some pictures of the wonderful week!

The street leading up to our house!

I think I'm obsessed with taking pictures of sunsets.  They just are always sooo pretty!

A delicious state with a garlic pesto sauce!

Yet another sunset!!

View of the harbor.  I love taking pictures of sailboats and rocks and the water and stuff like that.  I think the photos always turn out looking really cool.

The Basic T

When it comes to basic clothing items I don't like to overspend.  These are items that you wear quite frequently and often have to repurchase.  This includes things like tank tops and basic t-shirts.  I know there are tons of people out there that love to spend more money on these items because it is something that you do wear so often so you spend more for better quality.  While I do see where they are coming from I just hate to spend so much money on items I know will get sweaty quickly and I will have to repurchase.

My all time favorite store to buy these basic Ts is as Target.  I am in love with their tank tops specifically.  They are the completely smooth ones, not the ribbed ones.  They fit like a glove and are really breathable.  I also think for being Target they are made very well.  Along those same lines I love the simple v necks that they have as well.  You can get them in so many different colors and different styles.  They have ones that fit really tight and then they have looser ones too.

I highly recommend checking out Target for your everyday basic tops, they are my favorites!

So I have recently become obsessed with tattoos.  I cannot stop looking at pictures of different peoples tattoos, watching YouTube videos of people explaining their tattoos, and so much more.  I even created a Pinterest board of tattoos I am obsessed with.  Now I don't have any tattoos but I REALLY want one.  The one thing that is stopping me is that my parents hate tattoos with a burning passion.  Their are two that I want: a roman numeral and a written word.  I don't want to go into too much detail about why I want each one but maybe if I end up getting them one day I will share.  Any ways, I am known to be the "good" girl so I'm not quite sure I could go against my parents and get a tattoo without them knowing.  But I want these sooo bad that I might just have to make an exception.

Dainty tattoos...aaaahh perfection!  Here are my top three location ideas for each tattoo:

Do any of you have any tattoos?  If so where are they and did they hurt?

Best Jeans Ever

I've have always struggled with finding the perfect pair of jeans.  I think most people have too.  Its just one of those clothing items that is so hard to find because everyone's body shape is different.  They fit so tightly to your body that finding the perfect pair is a must.  I think I have settled with so many different pairs of jeans over the years but have never been truly happy.

Back in my lanky pre-teen years when all I could fit into were slims and 00's it was practically impossible to find a jean that I could fit into that my mom didn't have to put tucks into.  Then I hit my growth spurt.  Still being a small size they expect you to be shorter when you are a size 0.  I'm afraid that I didn't fit that bill.  Having to resort to Lucky Brand jeans at the age of 13 (no one should spend that kind of money on jeans at such a young age!) I made do.  Eventually my size went up so I could get away with a little longer length of jean.

Enter when I quit playing volleyball, a sport a played for almost 6 years hardcore.  I was no longer the super skinny toned chica anymore but began filling out.  While jeans still fit me in the legs my waist became the tricky area now.  One size was to big but the smaller size was too tight (giving me a muffin top which I definitely shouldn't have.)  I ended up just suffering wearing jeans to small simply because they fit everywhere else.

I couldn't imagine spending $200 on a pair of jeans until I tried on a certain pair.  My sister always talked about how ah-mazing J Brand jeans are, saying the stretch with your body and feel nice and tight but not too tight on.  I tried on a few pairs but still had the same problem, in between sizes.  Until I accidentally tried on a pair of high rise jeans.  Now I have two pairs of high waisted shorts which I am in love with.  They hide my stomach imperfections perfectly.  Why I never thought of trying on a pair of high waisted jeans I have no idea.  Needless to say this was the best mistake of my life!  I finally found a pair of jeans where it was okay for the waist to be a bit tight because it hides everything.  No slight muffin top but a nice smooth look.  If you don't want the high waisted look just pull your shirt over it, and if you do, you have it.  I am now obsessed with these jeans and want them in more shades.  I highly recommend trying the high waisted J Brand jeans (23110 Maria) or high waisted jeans from any brand if you suffer from being in between sizes or have muffin top issues!  These jeans are unbelievable comfy and have literally changed my life!

Sorry I have been MIA recently but I was at a music festival all weekend.  Hope you all have been enjoying these past few days as well.  Anyways, I wanted to share some few gift ideas with all of you.

Today I am having all of my friends over and I am giving them all a collage of a bunch of pictures of all of us.  Its something that can easily be hung in a dorm room and will remind you of all the good memories we all had together.  The one I made just in a simple rectangle but some other people I know make them in monograms (and who doesn't love a great monogram!) or the letters of the school.  For a friend of mine who was moving a way I made her a booklet of collages.  Whatever it may be I think collages are great gift for any occasion.  You can either have them made for you or you can do it yourself.  I know Walgreens makes some amazing picture products but here are a few sites that I really like for making your own collages: piZap and PicMonkey.  Also, just type into Google "collage maker/creator/etc." and I guarantee you will find something that you like!

Another gift along those same lines is just a simple picture and frame.  Not many people share pictures any more because you can just as easily see them on Facebook or what not.  But I love getting an elegant picture frame with a picture for birthdays or holidays.  If you don't want get an actual picture, they do make digital picture frames which plays a slideshow of pictures that you have on an SD card.  Either way you chose to do this gift I highly recommend some sort of picture frame.

July 2013 Favorites

These are some of the things that I have been loving this month.  Everything from fashion to beauty and random.  Hope you enjoy and please tell me some of your faves!

1.  Herbal Essences Hello Hydration Shampoo and Conditioner:  This has got to be my favorite shampoo and conditioners.  I always seem to go back to it time and time again.  I think it is the only shampoo and condition that I have ever actually repurchased.  That says a lot about me because I love trying new products.  This combo adds the perfect amount of moisture to to be hair and keeps it nice and silky.  I don't have particularly dry hair I just like to keep it extra hydrated and soft and this line is perfect for that!

2.  Bath & Body Works Sun Ripened Raspberry Body Cream:  This is my favorite lotion to apply after shaving.  Right after you shave your skin gets very dry because you just took off a layer of skin making it very raw and tender.  It is important to thoroughly hydrate your skin afterwards and I think this product does a great job of that!  It leaves your skin feeling very soft and the scent lingers which I like.

3.  Garnier Fructis Sleek and Smooth:  I have been using this after I shower as a smoothing product.  In the summer my hair tends to get slightly frizzy because of the humidity.  This product works great at taming that frizz and making your hair look soft and shiny and feel nice and silky.

4.  Laura Mercier Translucent Setting Powder:  Perfect powder to combat oiliness in the summer time.  I have been applying this after some concealer and it gives the perfect amount of coverage and feels light on your skin.  I highly recommend this product for those of you with oily skin, this is a life savor.

5.  Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya:  This is the most perfect coral color for the summer time!  I wear it with practically everything and it has become one of my go to lip products this July/summer as a whole.  The balm like consistency makes it very easy to just throw on out of a beach bag and still feel great on your lips and looks even better.

6.  Garnier Fructis Moisture Renew Refeshing Gel-Cream:  This lightweight night moisturizer is perfect for the summer.  It feels nice and cool and refreshing after a long hot day yet is still very moisturizing.  Whether you are getting out of the sun or just want a little pick me up this moisturizer is great.  While it feel light on the skin it does really hydrate your skin which is something you shouldn't forget to do even in the summer time.

7.  Marc Jacobs Perfume in Daisy Eau so Fresh:  Honestly this is the perfect summer fragrance.  I do not know how to describe this except literally being summer in a scent.  Light and airy and filled with sunshiney goodness this is an amazing perfume.  Please go smell it for yourself!

One More Month!

I literally cannot even believe that it is almost august!  This summer has flown by.  Its crazy how much I have done yet at the same time I feel as though I didn't do shit.  I just feel like I couldn't have done so many more things and there are still things I want to do but don't have time and its just...aaahh!  While I am so excited to leave for college these last moments with my friends are both happy and sad.  I am glad we are all going to places we want to be but at the same time I know that I might not see some of them again or at least not until next summer.  Its just crazy to think that there are people that you used to see everyday walking in the halls or in your classes that you may never ever see again.  While you may not have ever been best friends with them just seeing them was comforting and then not seeing them will be totally weird.

So far this summer I have said good bye to two really close friends that are moving, as in their families are moving to different states or even countries!  Its so surreal that things like this are happening and that soon we will be entering the real world and...well... its just a lot to take in.  The fact that I am packing for college when I remember like 1st grade like it was yesterday.  However at the same time, I'm like finally its time for me to go to college this took so damn long.  I guess its just all the emotions piling up and having conflicting thoughts.  I am sorry for this ramble I just am still stunned by the fact that in one month I am leaving for college.  As in I have a one way ticket somewhere!  Like how crazy is that.  The first time I think I have ever bought only a one way ticket anywhere.  The first steps in starting my own life and its crazy, crazy good, crazy exciting, and even crazy scary.

Pumped Up Kicks

I bought some new gym shoes!!  I am seriously obsessed with them.  They are a bright turquoise color with neon green/yellow laces and tongue.  I literally cannot get over how adorable they.  I find myself awkwardly staring at them every once in a while :D  They are the Nike 2013 Flex Runs (found here).  I had previously been eyeing these bad boys but just couldn't justify the price.  I mean I almost did it a couple of times but something just kept holding me back.  Anyways, when I found the Flexes also on the Dick's Sporting Goods website I looked into them more.  They basically looked exactly the same as the Frees, same color and all, and they both claimed to do very similar things.  I read reviews of both pairs and got only positive remarks for both.  It tipped me over the edge when the Flexes went on sale for $10 off and I would get free shipping.  I caved and bought them and couldn't be happier that I went with the 2013 Flex Runs over the Free 5.0s.  For a $40 difference I am so glad I got the Flexes.  They are amazing and fit perfectly.  They feel light and I just cannot wait to go workout in them.  I would highly recommend this shoe and they have tons of great colors online!

One of the things I am hoping buying a new cute pair of shoes will do is force me to go to the gym more.  I am hoping that cute shoes and cute workout gear will make me want to go work out and stuff because I want to wear them.  However, nothing has ever stopped me from wearing my go to workout outfit to class so who knows!  A girl can hope right?!

A TV Confession: The Vineyard {1x01}

So this is one of the new shows on ABC Family.  Now I was a little skeptical at first because well I have never seen something like this on ABC Family but who doesn't love a little reality TV with some really HOT guys!  Anyways, i watched the first episode and decided I would share my thoughts with all of you!

First things first, reminds me exactly like Laguna Beach or The Hills.  The way they have the main character, Katie, kind of narrating throughout the episode is just like Lauren Conrad.  Now I guess I don't mind that all that much but it is kind of annoying, like they couldn't even think of something original.  But it does remind of those shows in a good way too.  I mean who didn't love to watch hot people mingle and date hot mingle and watch the lives of hot people progress.  I know I loved it!  I think this show is just going to be that,  Easy to watch during the summer time!

The show follows 11 people during their summer at Martha's Vineyard.  10 of those are working at the Black Dog, a famous tourist spot in the Vineyard, and 2 of the 11 are locals who call the summer workers or tourists "wash ashores."  Basically the first episode showed a little bit of insight into a few of the characters and drama is already starting day one.

My favorite guy is Luis (Lu)  and my favorite girl is Jackie.  As of right now I want to stab both Johnathon and Cat in the eyes because they are total asses!  I think that Lu and Katie are eventually going to get together after much fight and drama and tension.  Each one is going to like someone else and eventually they will realize their feelings for the other, so cliche and predictable!  We don't really know too much about some of the other characters yet except for the drama between Cat and Ben (the two locals) because Cat supposedly revealed Ben's secret about why he "left" the Marines.  I also predict that Cat is going to get feelings for Lu and Jackie also has feelings for Lu.  If you cannot tell already Lu is EXTREMELY HOT!!! haha :D

I don't really have too much else to report but I thought I would just let you all know that I did really enjoy the first episode and cannot wait to keep watching.  Oh, one more thing, the show is very (and I do mean VERY) scripted, so be warned.  You can tell from the character Emily because she is a very bad actress!  But that doesn't stop me from watching some light and entertaining hot people enjoy a kick-ass summer!

Leather Leggings!

So if you have been reading my recent posts (and if you haven't check out this one and this one) you know that I have been eyeing a certain pair of leather leggings for quite some time!  Well I finally caved and bought them.  It was one of the most expensive things I have ever bought with all my own money.  I know GASP!  I'm only 18 and have always lived with my parents who love to spoil me.  I don't mean to brag but yeah.  Well this summer I got my first job so I had to start buying my own things especially since we are paying for college.  The first item I purchased with my first paycheck was the coveted leather leggings found here.  Now I know I am a bit late to jump on the leather pant bandwagon but hey, better late than never right!  I thought I would show you all a few ways that I would style leather leggings.

Outfit #1:  This is the most casual of all the outfits.  A simple white tank and large cardigan really tones down the leather of the leggings.  Now these leggings aren't extremely shiny like some I have seen which is why I really like them.  In the right lighting you can sea more shine.  Any ways, I also toned the outfit down with some black high top converse (which are my new obsession btw!)  For jewelry I kept it simple with a feather pendant and a watch.  There are many ways in which you all can add your own twist to this easy look.  Switch out the shoes for your faves or a brighter colored sweater would be cute too!

Outfit #2:  This outfit is less casual than the last one but I'm still keeping it pretty casual because I didn't switch up the shoes but stuck with my black high top converse.  I think you could totally change up this look but adding a cute pair of combat boots or black booties!  For this outfit I am wearing a graphic tee of the Union Jack and a white blazer.  I am only wearing a watch with this outfit but I think a long pendant of some sort would look really cute as well.

Outfit #3: This is my outfit for a night out with the girls.  It's kind of out there so if its not your style you can totally tone it down.  I am wearing a black lace top with a hot pink bandeau underneath.  It would look great also with a black bandeau or even a black/colored tank top if that's more your style.  I am wearing black pointed flats but I would recommend black heels if you have them.  Because I am 5'10.5 I don't really wear heels all that much because it makes me uncomfortable to be any taller than I am.  However if you have heels  or even black heeled booties I think this is the perfect outfit for them!!  I like keeping this all black with a pop of color because it keeps the leather pants chic instead of tacky!

I wish you all well on your leather leggings wearing and I would love to see you all rocking  a hot pair of leather leggings.  Please send me pictures of how you style this staple!

How I Remove Nailpolish

I thought I would tell you all how I remove my nail polish.  I used to just scrub away at my nails until I found this trick online. I am sure you all have probably heard of it but I love this technique the best. Its great for stubborn polishes like darker colors or glitters but its also great for everyday use.  I hope you guys enjoy and try this trick for yourself!

You will need tin foil, nail polish remover, cotton balls, and hand lotion.

Tear the cotton balls into smaller pieces, you will need 10 of them.  Even though you might think they are too small is okay, smaller is better than bigger. You will also need to tear/cut the tinfoil into 10 rectangles. I suggest rectangles over squares because you want one side to be longer so that it wraps all the way around tour finger.

Soak one cotton piece with remover. The littlest amount of remover is fine, the cotton ball will absorb a ton!

Next, cover the cotton piece and your nail with the tin foil. You will want to make sure the tinfoil is tight and secure on your finger.  The reason that this trick works so well is because it prevents the remover from evaporating and lets it really soak into the nail polish instead.

Repeat the process on all your fingers!  Leave the tin foil and cotton on your fingers for 5-10 minutes depending on what type of nail polish you have on.

When you remove the tin foil and cotton piece slide it off your finger.  You should see all the nail polish come right off (sorry if that is hard to see in the above picture, maybe white wasn't the best color to do this tutorial with! oh well.)  If there is a little left over then just lightly scrub and it should come off.  If there is still a lot of nail polish left or just didn't quite work then try different nail polish remover. Yours might be a bit old which has happened to me before.  Now just do this on your other hand and you are all set!!

Finally, just apply lotion all over your adds and focus it directly on your nails and cuticles.  Because the nail polish remover was sitting on your nails and skin for so long it can dry it out.

Also, I'm not quite sure why my hands are looking soo red in all this pictures, must be the lighting!  I will try to fix that.  I also want to apologize for the dirtiness of the floors of which I am taking these pictures on for a backdrop.  I did not see any of those hairs in the camera!  Clearly my floors need some cleaning.

My Week in Pictures {7/26/13}

This week has been everywhere from super crazy to just laying in bed doing nothing.  I thought I would share some pictures with you guys of things I have been doing.  I also apologize for some of the over edited ones but I cannot help my love for picture editing apps!  Also, I am sorry that a lot of these pictures are food, I guess I just love to take pictures of what I eat.

A cute patio at a restaurant that I ate at with my brother!  I just loved the setup of the place and the atmosphere was great.  It was also such a gorgeous day!

Apologies for my brother's hands in the background but we really liked this dessert!  It was a banana split in a jar.  Complete with vanilla ice cream, bananas, chocolate sauce, cherries, caramelized hazelnuts, and salted pretzels!  It was phenomenal! mmmm

A flower I made out the cut up pieces of plum.  One of my favorite things in the summer time to have is fresh fruit.  It is the perfect treat on a hot summer day!  My two favorites are plums and peaches.

A pretty view from a gazebo at my friends house.  It was pouring rain but we were covered under the hut with screens on all sides.  It was so cool to be in the rain hear it but not get wet.  I just loved the pretty purple pink sky too!

Smoothie time!  A lychee mango smoothie with tapioca on the bottom!  Do have to say much more than that? Delicious!  A perfect way to cool off is with a tasty drink.
