I haven't been home for four months so I literally cannot wait to be in my bed, see my fam, and more importantly, see my dog! Haha!  I'm just kidding...but actually.  I won't be blogging for a few weeks so I hope everyone enjoys their break and the holiday season!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!!!

Study udy udy

So its finals week... and the doom and gloom is overwhelming as the fantasy of winter break taunts us.  Its one week of ultimate hell until 3+ weeks of wonderfulness.  I think finals week is literally the worst time for every college student.  Its when all partying must come to an end and you must put your Netflix account on hold and give your Facebook password to a friend.  I think this Buzzfeed perfectly represents all things finals, oh and this one too simply because Elf is involved.  An no matter how much we try to spend all day studying we end up starting new TV series or just laying in bed all day.  Or even spending the day wasting away hours everyone's new addiction: Buzzfeed (ooopss!)

Well, I'm here to talk you out of your depression and tell you that if you just keep pushing through then you can make it til the end.  In the wise words of Dory, "Just keep swimming."  So here are a few finals study tips that can help you motivate yourself and push you through the end.

1. Focus on one thing at a time.  I know it can become super stressful when you have lists of things to do and it becomes so daunting that you just never know where to start so you decide you won't start studying and instead watch the first season of Gossip Girl.  Instead, pick one thing to do.  Trust me, checking that off the list is like the best satisfaction ever.  Maybe after everything you check off then you can allow yourself to watch an episode of GG.  But not until you have accomplished something.

2.  Get out of your room.  Your room should not be used for studying during finals weeks.  Your room should be the place where you can go back to and relax and not have to worry about anything.  I am not one for libraries because I just find them waaayyy too distracting (hello people watching!!)  But there are tons of other places I'm sure you can find on campus that are perfect for you.  I really like empty classrooms!

3.  Go for a walk.  Literally fresh air is a cure-all.  When you're stressed or overwhelmed just go for a walk.  Maybe take your iPod for some tunes to listen to but other than that I would try to leave your phone back in your room.  You need a break from all things and just some time to yourself to help you think.  While taking a walk/break may seem like the exact opposite thing you need or want to do, its exactly what you should do!

4.  Study groups.  Now this one is difficult.  I think it really depends on the people and your own personality if studying around others works for you.  For me, it depends on the subject.  Sometimes bouncing ideas off people helps me understand like history or language.  But subjects like math, I find easier to do myself.  Take this one with a grain of salt.  If the group starts becoming to distracting or you get off topic too much, just leave.  You may want to hang out with your friends but its only hurting you.

5.  Find your study method.  Whatever it may be everyone has something that works for them.  For me it depends on the subject.  I really like flashcards for terms in Spanish and Psychology for example.  The more times I do them the more I learn.  I also do like making study guides too.  Outlining your topics can help to rephrase things and put them in new light.  Find whatever works for you and stick with it.  If that's creating songs to memorize all the bones in the body a-la Hannah Montana then do it!! Don't let others try and change what you do.

I wish you all much luck and good grades this semester!!

First off, I hope everyone is having a good finals week and studying is going well.  I think in the next few days I am going to do a post about how I study and keep organized for finals.  Let me know if that's something you would be interested in seeing!

Anyways, for one of my finals I had to write a paper instead.  It was called a spiritual autobiography.  It wasn't really focused on religion or anything it was just centered around how certain events for people have changed your life and affected you in one way or another.  I was extremely scared to write this assignment because I'm not really used to writing about myself in deep emotional ways.  However, after many weeks of putting it off and hours contemplating what to write, I just sat down at my computer and began to write.

I just started writing about whatever came to my head.  It was crazy the things I was writing and didn't even know I felt and knew existed.  I kept going enjoying the process.  Pretty soon my paper was ten pages and I really didn't accomplish much in explaining my journey but I realized a lot about myself.  I would recommend this process to anyone because it really opens yourself up to you.  It awakens your mind to your deeper emotions and things that you may not even know about yourself.

I would suggest starting no where.  Just grab a piece of paper and pen, or open up a new word doc and just start.  The very first thing that comes to your mind when you think of something that has changed or affected you.  I promise that this will be a hard but worthwhile process.  For my class, we then had to go and share these feelings and thoughts with the class.  Literally one of my biggest fears is showing people sides of me that are too raw or emotion filled.

Telling my story still haunts me but I realized it makes me who I am.  While I didn't share every part of my life the part I did share feels good to get off my chest.  While I still think about what I said and remember every minute of it, its okay.  No one will judge me.  They accept me for me.  And the more I tell myself this then the more I will be able to open up more to the people closer to me.  However, I'm not quite there yet but maybe one day I'll get there.

Any ways, back to the story.  I would also suggest telling one person what you wrote about.  It can be a complete stranger or a close friend who doesn't know the words you wrote.  It may hurt to share or cut you deep but in the end it will be worth it.

I wish you all luck and please let me know if there is anything you want me to write about!!  Good luck studying for all you taking finals!!

PS.  If you want to share your story with me, I'm all ears.  I'm a good listener too who has a lot more experience that you may think!

Cyber Weekend Haul!

Hey guys!

I just wanted to post a really quick haul post about the things I got during the black Friday sales.  They just arrived yesterday and I am so excited to share them all with you!!  I only shopped at two places for myself (I got a lot of holiday presents for the fam!).  I got bathing suits at Victorias Secret because I am going somewhere warm for Winter Break!!!!!  And then I got some awesome jewelry from Bauble Bar.  Also, Bauble Bar's packaging was so adorable I just cant.  Each piece of jewelry came in a velvet little pouch!  So cute right! haha.  Anyways, here are the things I got and I will post links to everything too if it is still available.  I would love to know what you guys got too!

Purple bottoms in the color Galaxy Grape
I know in the picture the next top and bottom look yellow but I swear they are like a light lime green with light pink border.  I think online it says its like a lilac color border but in real life it looks a lot more pink.
